The European Fisheries Technology Platform (EFTP) celebrated its General Assembly the 24th November. Click here to read the conclusions

The last 15th of March, a delegation of EFTPs’ (European Fisheries Technology Platform) Board of Directors met with the European Commissioner for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, Ms. Maria Damanaki. The aim of the meeting was to make the EFTP available for the Commissioner and for DG Mare and to show the progress achieved in this organization.

GUIDELINES AND METHODOLOGY USED

Thematic Workshop on: Fishing Discards: Tackling the problem from a research an innovation perspective. 22/06/2012

Fishing discards is one of the main priorities for EFTP members. By means of implementing a collaborative methodology, stakeholders were invited to contribute to a common vision about the problem and on how to tackle it. The output envisaged will be part of the EFTP Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda and could become a valuable input for defining future RTDI policies with regard to fishing discards.

Thematic Workshop on: Future Fishing Fishing Vessel Technologies: Challenges for a Sustainable European Fishing Fleet

The Fishing Vessel technology working group hold its first workshop meeting on 6th of June in Sicily. This meeting focused in "Challenges for a Sustainable European Fishing Fleet". VENUE: Istituto per l'Ambiente Marino Costiero (IAMC-CNR), Italy.

In the afternoon of 15th of March, a delegation of EFTPs’ (European Fisheries Technology Platform) Board of Directors met with the European Commissioner for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, Ms. Maria Damanaki. The aim of the meeting was to make the EFTP available for the Commissioner and for DG Mare and to show the progress achieved in this organization.

Executive summary
EFTP I General Assembly 24/11/2010

Javier Garat, president of Europeche and CEPESCA  thanked the Board for electing him as a Chairman of Tthe EFTP emphasizing his interest and hopes about this new initiative.

He emphasized that the EFTP can help and dynamize the fisheries sector to get involved in research and innovation activities and can reinforce this sector to become one more modern and competitive.

EFTP Kick off meeting 18/05/2011

On May 18th in the frame of the NAVALIA Exhibition, in Vigo, there will take place the official Kick-off meeting of the European Fisheries Technology Platform (EFTP). This one is an initiative of the European fishing sector set up with the aim to integrate all the relevant stakeholders in the process of research, technological development and innovation, to modernize the fishing activity and to make it more sustainable and long-term competitive.
